Carolina Herrera is one of today's most celebrated and important designers. Of course up until now we haven't seen much for her male followers. There were successful fragrances but nothing to mirror the artistry of her womenswear. Now for FALL 2010 Victor Norlander jumps aboard as front man for Herrera's diffusion line "CH", which includes looks and quality that is both relevant and timeless. Polo necks, Velvet jackets and coats, all luxuriously on par with the aesthetic we have come to expect from Herrera.

Paint trend for 2010: You should paint my Love

Photobucket

When Fashion tells you to add a splash of colour, be mindful of how much. Appearing all over Summer 2010 in not only menswear by ladieswear too, one of the newer trends is paint. Used by designers, Thakoon, Alexander McQueen and BCBG to name just three, this paint theme is really making a splash!

Using paint in fashion has even made it's way to print campaigns such as Lanvin, and editorials like the one below in FHM with the black dipped hands. It goes to show that even a novice Fashionisto could take out a paint bucket and spruce up and old pair of jeans. But do so, cautiously.

Don't be surprised that a trend like this lands up in VOGUE HOMME, But on your underpants too? Well that's Fashion for you.

You can leave your wrap on

Photobucket

Lanvin, Veneta and Comme des Garçon appear in true Licorice all-sort fashion in a colourful editorial by Parisian talent Loammi Goetghebeur and photographed by Steve Beckouet. Juxtaposing the dirty street scene with the colourful stylings of Matthieu Pabiot this glorious shoot. Prints, stripes and checks oh my! And how about an African head wrap? Madonna would be proud.

Balmain Lookbook FW 2010

Photobucket

Photobucket

I just love the looks from Balmain's LookBook for FW 2010. Kristian Akergren, Richie Cotterell and Tristan Knights take over for designer Christophe Decarnin’s nautical luxe meets preppy grunger lookbook.

Just wondering how on earth we got back to Bootleg cuts so quickly? 2006?

Vivienne Westwood MAN 2010 campaign

Keeping it in the family, Vivienne Westwood's latest campaign features her husband Andreas Kronthaler and Pamela Anderson once more. In addition Select model Tati features alongside the usual trio. It was Juergen Teller who photographed the somewhat trashy shoot but Westwood is a true artist and the campaign is nothing short of dirty-fabulous.

Andreas, never shy to prove an equal to his wifes eccentricities recently had this to say:

“Nobody can avoid tradition—but you should not confuse it with conservatism. You must interpret tradition, otherwise it is stale, dead and boring.”

Adam Kimmel Fall 2010

Photobucket

Spongebob Squarepants and the Grinch had a love child, or several in Adam Kimmels new Fall collection.
Apart from the absurd and disturbing masks (which I love) the reasonably small collection featured some amazing alternative double breasted suits in velvet and pin stripe. Love it.

Bottega Veneta A/W 2010 | Milan Fashion Week

I called it back in 2008! I was told that we wouldn't see this look on the runway and yet here we are in 2010 and Bottega Veneta have shown it to be true.

Photobucket

While it may just be a show piece, it was executed well enough to see how it could be worn in regular day-to-day attire. At least for those fashion-minded folk who would under-wear it instead of making it a statement piece.

The collection included some great pieces in all the beautiful shades you expect from a Bottega show. The tones really are something special it's easy to identify.

Featured in addition were these pea-coats that came in two vibrant colours, and black.

And accessories like this shoulder bags and vintage sized overnight case/briefcase.

Dsquared go camp, for 2010.

Design duo Dean and Dan are at it again with their newest campaign of young hotness and the occasional item of clothing. The mega-brand will showcase it's newest collection in Milan on Tuesday if my memory serves me correct. Keep a look out for all the fun and frivolity that is Fashion Week!

The Military Band Jacket

Photobucket

Michael Jackson pulled a Van Gogh. He died only to have his Legend soar and re-ignite. His music however powerful, was forgotten by most with trials upon trials trying to bring him down, until his presence on MTV became nothing but an 80's weekend appearance. So while the world remembered their Fallen Idol and started to celebrate the music that shaped the 80's and 90's so did his style. Sure his brother Jermoron wears the glitter-glove in honor of Michael but I'm talking about the Military Band Jacket that we all remember of Michael's Style. Just perhaps without the sequins.

Photobucket

Music influences style and fashion. It's a cycle that profits one another. Madonna had the Gaultier Cones, Elvis had his jumpsuit and Britney, well hers was a school outfit but you get the point. Jackson made his Walk of Fame jacket a staple in any impersonators wardrobe. The man in the military jacket that commanded an army of fans.

Photobucket

When Michael Jackson's documentary-movie 'This is it' came out and the world was amazed by the chance to witness the man at work, I was watching his outfit changes too. Givenchy as I mentioned before were working on costumes for Michael. In Fact he was seen wearing both Givenchy and Balmain womenswear with slightly adjusted detailing to make it less feminin.

Photobucket

Designer Stella McCartney got in on the action too but sadly made this stunning jacket for kids and not for us big boys. But last year you may recall Dolce and Gabbana introduced us to this style which has been sold all over in stores like H&M and Top Shop. Fellow Blogger 00o00 even showed us this jacket as worn by designer Julian Macdonald at a fortnum & mason christmas party.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The question is will it ever make it to our shores in time? Woolworths, Country Road and Trenery are not likely to release this look and we can forget about Edgars ever getting to a level of great quality clothing and choice. All I know is this style is flying off international shelves, so you should probably expect to see it more in the coming months.

The wide-leg Returns

It had to happen some time. We all thought it was the coolest thing to happen to fashion since Madonna’s cone-bra but what goes up must come down, and alas the skinny jean look is now officially done.

But worry not dear Fashionisto’s-- it doesn’t mean you can’t wear them anymore, it’s just not the it-fit of the last few years. I guess it couldn’t last forever cough *adam lambert* cough.

I personally can’t stand to have the sprayed on look anymore, I guess it’s just not worth the discomfort. And seeing every other kid trying to pull it off and failing dismally- Blue skinny jean boy with Afghan scarf I’m talking to you!-- makes me want to toss the look altogether.

Diesel hinted at it, Dsquared and D&G played with it and Gaultier walked his models up and down the runway showing us that we haven’t forgotten about the wide-leg fit of the ninetees. It’s just not worn with tie-dye and moppy wet hair- so don’t get too excited.

Photobucket

Brad from Streetpeeper shows us one option- I like his Bottega Venetta pants but perhaps a harder denim would be better? Come 2010 you'll see this everywhere! Just wait...

Bottega Veneta

Not since Dsquared's Spring 2007 show have I been so excited! I just fell in love with the entire Spring 2010 Bottega Veneta show and I want it all for myself. This brand has been on the rise and rise for me for a while now and it's swiftly becoming one of my favorites. And here are my picks for Spring 2010:

This one in particular is my favorite (although the colouring is similar to what Prada was doing last year, wasn't it?) and I think it was executed beautifully. I Love every item individually and together!
